AUI: The Death of UI/UX Design as We Know It (!?) 💀

Agentic AI is NOT here to help you use products. It's here to use them for you. Let that sink in.

Imagine this:
“Book me a flight to Pune under ₹5K”... Done ✅
“Summarize my business's revenue and flag issues”... Done ✅

No apps. No screens. No human clicking around dashboards. Just intent → outcome.

I remember back in school, being introduced to how User Interfaces (UI) evolved to help humans interact with machines to get work done:

• Command Line Interface (CUI)- required precision and technical know-how.
• Graphical User Interface (GUI)- made computing visual, intuitive, and accessible to everyone [That’s when UI/UX design originally emerged, not just as a skill but as a discipline focused on humanizing technology.]

But now, we may be entering a radically new phase:
• Agentic User Interface (AUI)- Where humans no longer interact with machines directly. They simply express intent. And the AI agents take it from there...🤖

In such a world if the interfaces become invisible,
• Do the APIs become the new product?
• So what happens to 'UI/UX design' as we know it?
• Who’s the user now- human or agent?
• Will 'Design' as a function dissolve, evolve or transform into something new?

I don’t have answers, yet. Just a lot of questions.
